Recommended Joint Dimensions
- Width: 3mm - 13mm
- Depth: min 19mm
Surface & Weather Conditions
- Air and surface temperatures should be above 10°C (50°F)
- Joints must be completely dry before applying; once set, allow 24-48 hours before exposure to rain
- Avoid overwatering - if foaming begins, stop immediately to prevent wash-out of binding agents
Installation Steps Summary
- Pour the dry compound over a manageable area
- Sweep into joints until full
- Compact – ideally using vibration, or gently tamping
- Top up joints and compact again to just below the paving surface
- Remove excess from the surface (soft broom or leaf blower recommended)
- Spray lightly with water (15-20 seconds) - stop when water no longer absorbs
- Allow to cure - avoid watering for at least 24 hrs
Important Notes
- Do not mix with cement, sand, or other materials
- Ensure sub-base and bedding mortar are suitably free draining so water can reach the compound for activation
- The joint cures to a non-permeable finish - this may be important in drainage or surface water design
- Pressure washing or cleaning with chemicals should be avoided for the first 30 days after installation
- If repair or topping up is required later, new material bonds to the original when curing
Ideal Applications
- Porcelain patios, terraces, or walkways
- Commercial and residential projects
- Areas where a clean, strong, and durable joint is required
- Suitable for use in mild to moderate traffic zones (note: joints are not load-bearing)
